What are your plans this Saturday evening? If they’re not for family movie night, change them!
Procter & Gamble and Walmart will premiere their latest made-for-TV family movie, Change of Plans, this Saturday, January 8 at 8/7c on FOX. Together, P&G and Walmart are committed to providing family-oriented entertainment options, and Change of Plans is their latest initiative. The talented cast includes one of my favorite American Idol contestants, Brooke White (Season 7), Joe Flanigan, Phylicia Rashad, and four young actors who have promising futures in the business.
We were privileged to have access to an advanced screening of the movie and watched it the same day the New York Times ran “The Happy Marriage Is the ‘Me’ Marriage.” After reading an article that was less than encouraging for those who joyfully make sacrifices for the betterment of families, I was ready for a more family-centered distraction.
Now, on with the show…
Have you, like me, ever experienced a single phone call that changes your life forever? Change of Plans demonstrates how our lives can be turned upside down in the blink of an eye.
Here’s a synopsis:
Sally Danville (Brooke White) is a free-spirited musician on her way to the top. Her husband Jason (Joe Flanigan) is fighter pilot who doesn’t want to be tied down. Together they live life on the go, free of domestic responsibilities. When informed her best friend from college died in a tragic accident while serving in the Peace Corps, Sally learns she has been named the legal guardian of her friend’s four children—three of whom were adopted from third-world countries. Sally and Jason must quickly learn to parent this instant family and help the kids deal with culture clashes and American life. The story is both humorous and heartwarming, revealing how fulfilling life can be when you look beyond your own plans and invest in the lives of others.
