** Congrats to Allicia F. The Sound of Music giveaway package is headed your way! **
What’s your favorite holiday movie? At the top of my list is The Sound of Music. Not sure why I associate it with Christmas, but growing up it was one movie we often watched on Christmas Eve. Now Joel and I have continued the tradition with our growing little family and I love that our oldest enjoys it just as I did when I was her age.
Tonight at 8:00/7:00 central The Sound of Music LIVE airs on NBC. Carrie Underwood stars in the live telecast of a beloved family classic, based on the original Broadway musical. I’m told the new version will be a faithful adaptation of the original stage musical. Good, because I’m already a tad skeptical … having a hard time picturing (and hearing) Carrie Underwood as Maria. BUT, given I fall in love all over again with the story and its music, we’ll be watching Carrie and the gang tonight (and keeping the DVD of the original handy just in case of an emergency!).
Good news! In honor of the live airing tonight, we’re giving away a Sound of Music poster, T-shirt, and the soundtrack album featuring Carrie Underwood. To enter to win, please do the following TWO things by 11:59pm eastern TONIGHT.
1. Share the photo below to your Facebook page.
(use the Facebook buttons at the bottom for easy sharing)
2. Leave a comment below — share your favorite Christmas movie with us!
P.S., Full disclosure — another family fave was Smoky Mountain Christmas with Dolly Parton and Lee Majors (please, don’t judge). It’s about a country-western singer on a trip through the Tennessee mountains who runs into a reclusive backwoodsman … and a witch. Just screams instant Christmas classic doesn’t it?
Now have at it in the comment box — what’s your favorite holiday movie? Looking forward to reading your responses. And don’t forget to share the photo to your Facebook page, too!
Favorite holiday movie…It’s a Wonderful Life!
If I can only pick one, I have to go with “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I’m missing the live broadcast of The Sound of Music tonight since I’ll be at my Bible study. I hope I can find it on Hulu or stream it on the computer somehow! I ADORE The Sound of Music, and I’ve always thought of it as a Christmas movie, too. I hope the Schmidt crew is having a blessed start to Advent! :)
Too funny Lisa!!!! My mom just ordered Smokey Mountain Christmas!!! One of my favorites!! Also Meet me in St. Louie ( with Judy Garland) is also an all time favorite, we always watched that anytime I guess but a good classic! And I can’t possible leave out Elf!!!!!
Mine is Smokey Mountain Christmas Too! Followed by It´s a Wonderful Life.
My favorite Christmas movie is Mirachle on 34th Street. I like the B&W one AND the one with Dylan McDermott. I can’t decide which version is my favorite!
OK…shared on facebook and hoping for the best tonight!
Ohh, and I meant to add that A Christmas Carol is probably my favorite.
One of my favorite movies is The Christmas Shoes. Its a TV movie starring Rob Lowe.
White Christmas and Miracle on 42nd street are my favorites.
I can’t pick just one. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation; White Christmas; It’s a Wonderful Life (which none of my student workers have seen, btw!). …and also, ‘The Night They Saved Christmas’ – total 80’s cheese, but I loved it as a kid.
Favorite Christmas Movie – “Holiday Inn”, closely followed by “It’s a wonderful Life” and “The Preacher’s Wife”.
