Joel and I have reached the half-way point in our 54-Day Rosary Novena. We have spent the past 27 days in petition; now we switch to 27 days in thanksgiving.
Some random thoughts:
- I can’t believe we’ve gotten this far! (…yet so far to go.)
- Our petitions have not been answered. Actually, things seem less clear now than they did before we started.
- We began without preconceived answers to our petitions. So we begin the thanksgiving phase with no answers in sight but the expectation that God will answer them according to His will. (And we have no idea what that means.)
- We were “cautioned” that this novena requires commitment, a commitment that requires grace. We have hope that grace will be its fruit as well. So we soldier on.
- A rosary is really hard to complete at midnight. And we stink at couple prayer. This is really pushing us.
- I feel God has said to me: “I thirst for you. Why not try opening your heart more than you ever have before?” This prayer is providing an opportunity to do just that, and it’s been rather emotional to see what thoughts have risen to the surface. {read: Lisa’s been a hot mess lately!}
- That beautiful rosary was handmade by our dear spiritual friend Melanie from TrendyTraditions.org.
- We vow to share an update after Day 54.
Have you prayed a 54-Day Rosary Novena? Care to share a bit of your experience with us?
Hi girlie. This novena always brings huge results! Can’t wait to hear your testimony!!!!! God bless+
That’s what we keep hearing, Alexis! Stay tuned. :)
He has a sense of humor–for certain. We’re about to begin a family novena…not looking forward to it (like to do things alone) but also looking toward what it will mean for our family. Thank you for sharing. Thanksgiving prayers have made the most impact in my life. <3
:) Godspeed, Koziel family!
We would like to learn to pray the rosary as a family. It is our family goal this year. Thank you for sharing. P
Godspeed on your journey!
Are you using a book as your guide?
Your guide besides Jesus, that is. 😉
Great question, Katy. Melanie, the maker of the Rosary, suggested this book here: http://ow.ly/GxEVP. But we actually aren’t using it. Before we started praying this novena, I read up on the devotion, and this blog post here convinced me I needed to try “a softer” way first. I think you’ll understand what I’m trying to say after reading the post. :) http://www.patheos.com/blogs/godandthemachine/2013/08/the-54-day-rosary-novena/
I have done the 54 day novena a few times. It has always been in conjunction with a particularly tough time in my life (or the lives of those closest to me) and I have always been answered. Not always with a yes but always clearly answered. It does take a commitment and can be difficult to complete, however, I have to think it is always fruitful. As I type this on the Solemnity of the Holy Family, may our Blessed Mother keep you close to herself and her Son.
Wow. Thank you for sharing your experiences and providing some encouragement to us. Greg. Blessings and peace to you and yours!
You will be blessed! I did it once during a particularly hard time in my faith and another right before our wedding. Even if it’s the grace of knowing you completed it, it’s worth it! :)
Of cource, the efficacy does not depend on the number of days and requests. Prayers may not be answered in the way we expect. We can only praise Him and thank Him ,even for that state
.
What was the result of your novena? I am currently praying the novena as well, but doing it expressly (6 rosaries per day for 9 days =54). I am in the thanksgiving phase, and was wondering your experience.
I have done this novena a few times and never really got what I asked for.
