Ever say YES! enthusiastically to something and then wonder, “What made me think I ought to agree to that request?!”
When the lovely Southern Belle Mrs. Erin Franco came knocking on my door, asking me to chat on The Right Heart podcast, I eagerly accepted her invitation. I didn’t think twice, even though we hadn’t yet decided on a topic for the show. Erin and I both write for CatholicMom.com, and I’ve followed her work for a while. Erin has also ventured into podcasting and radio, and she’s certainly one to keep an eye on. My gut tells me her stock is rising quickly.
But about that topic for the podcast … Erin suggested we chat about natural family planning. I’m not a natural family planning instructor and I don’t feel called to that work. Frankly, it’s a topic I really don’t care to discuss with others either. The charting, record-keeping, observations (etc. etc. etc.) simply drive me mad, making me an unlikely spokesperson for a most life-giving Church teaching.
As with everything in faith and life, we are to “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope,” 1 Peter 3:15, and as I prayed about talking with Erin on NFP, I felt a responsibility to do so. Since Joel and I conscientiously decided to restore our fertility to God, even through the struggles (and there are many!), great joy and peace have followed (most of the time!).
Here I present to you my explanation and reason for our hope, via The Right Heart podcast with Erin Franco. Click here to listen to the podcast.
Enjoyed listening to it yesterday! You always do an amazing job!
Thanks, Lisa!
